2017 marks NACBA’s fourth annual Hill Day at Home!
As we have done through the years, we want to be sure that the issues we care about – primarily restoring the student loan bankruptcy discharge – are on Congress’ agenda. Here is what you can expect for this year’s event:
- Mark your calendar for October 16- October 20, 2017. We will work to secure meetings for you during that week as Members of Congress will be on recess in their home districts. We will connect with you via email in the next few weeks with a window of time your Representative is available to confirm a meeting;
- Hill Day at Home will focus on H.R. 2366. NACBA will circulate information on the bill, the elected officials you will meet with, talking points and leave behinds for you to use during your meetings; and
- Check your email to register for upcoming virtual training sessions.
For those who may not be aware, Hill Day at Home allows NACBA members to meet with federal lawmakers, grow and maintain working relationships with Congressional offices, and have a lasting impact on bankruptcy policymaking, all without leaving the comfort of your state. As mentioned, meetings will be arranged for you, with some taking place in local House district offices and some to be held over the phone with bankruptcy staffers in D.C. We’ll provide a detailed training session via webcast, including background materials, talking points, and leave behind information for the meetings.
It comes down to NACBA members like you from around the country to help lawmakers understand how bankruptcy is a critical part of the safety net their constituents depend on.
