Keynote Speakers

Did someone say EVIDENCE? National Legal Evidence Expert and Keynote Speaker Professor Edward Imwinkelried will present “The Practicalities of Admitting or Objecting to Evidence in Bankruptcy Court.” Imwinkelried is the Edward L. Barrett, Jr. Professor of Law at the UC Davis School of Law. He is the most cited legal academic in the country in the area of Evidence law.

PRACTICE LIKE A CHAMPION: Confirmed Keynote Speaker Ross Bernstein, the best selling author of nearly 50 books, is an award-winning peak-performance hall of fame business speaker who has spent the better part of the past 20 years studying the DNA of championship teams. Ross and his books have been featured on thousands of television and radio programs including CNN, CBS This Morning, FOX News, Bloomberg, ESPN, as well as in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, USA Today & Maxim Magazine.

ESPN 30 For 30 BROKE: Emmy Award Winning Filmmaker Billy Corben, who created the famed documentary “Broke,” a deep dive about pro athletes going bankrupt will address #NACBA25 as a keynote speaker. “Broke” paints a complex picture of the many forces that drain athletes’ bank accounts, placing some of the blame on the culture at large while still holding these giants accountable for their own hubris. A story of the dark side of success, “Broke,” is an allegory for the financial woes haunting economies and individuals all over the world.  Corben is also well know for his other films such as Cocaine Cowboys, Dawg Fight, and ESPN’s 30 for 30 The U and The U Part 2.

TOO DUMB TO FAIL: Matt K. Lewis is a Senior Columnist for the Daily Beast, a CNN political commentator and author of the book Too Dumb to Fail: How the GOP Betrayed the Reagan Revolution to Win Elections. Right Wing News named Matt one of the “50 Best Conservative Columnists” in 2013, 2014, and 2015. The American Conservative Union named him the 2012 CPAC Blogger of the Year. Business Insider named Matt one of the 50 “Pundits You Need To Pay Attention To Between Now And The Election” in 2011. Matt’s work has also appeared in outlets such as GQ, POLITICO, and the Guardian — and he has been quoted or cited by major media outlets including New York Magazine, the Washington Post, the New York Times, and the Associated Press. As a commentator, Matt has appeared on Fox News, MSNBC, C-SPAN, ABC’s Nightline, and HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher.

Celebrate NACBA25

All registrants are encouraged to attend a special #NACBA25 ANNIVERSARY PARTY on Friday, May 5th (6PM-9PM) that will include a live concert, food trucks, desserts and perhaps some Disney magic. If no magic, we may just open the bar! There is no cost to attend.

Continuing Legal Education

With past NACBA Conventions being approved for over 20 credit hours (including ethics) in all 50 states and Puerto Rico, NACBA’s 25th Annual Convention is your one stop, professional development,  legal education event that satisfies most, if not all, CLE compliance periods. Check back soon (April) for the official CLE Approval chart broken down by state.

What’s New?

CIRCUIT MEETINGS: New this year, NACBA will host individual circuit meetings for sharing of ideas and the latest “round-up” of what is taking place in the circuit where you practice. Circuit meetings will be led by Members of the Bench and or NACBA Members from the designated areas.

ADVANCED TOPICS: The convention planning committee has scheduled 5 advanced topics to challenge and inform even the most seasoned bankruptcy practitioner.

SATURDAY SCHEDULE: Given the location and that many attendees may include family, the committee planned an abbreviated schedule on Saturday, May 6th so attendees could take in the Walt Disney World parks and surrounding Orlando area without missing valuable CLE seminars.

Back by popular demand, FIRESIDE CHATS, FREE CONVENTION RECORDINGS and THURSDAY NIGHT THEATER (Legal Marketing Sessions) will once again be part of the 2017 NACBA Convention.

Experience Walt Disney World

MICKEY & MINNIE: NACBA has finalized a special photo session during the convention with Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Why stand in line at the parks to meet characters? NACBA has arranged a commemorative photo opportunity for convention attendees and their families included with registration.

DISCOUNTED PARK TICKETS: Yes, NACBA has that covered too! Specially Priced Walt Disney World Theme Park Tickets are available until May 3rd, 2017. Click HERE for more information. Interested in Universal Studios Tickets or Sea World Tickets, click HERE.

Playback NACBA

Unable to Attend #NACBA25: Through the PlaybackNACBA website, bankruptcy attorneys are able to watch presentations and listen to remarks from the 2015 Chicago Convention, 2016 San Francisco Convention and the 2017 Orlando Convention.
