Jill Michaux is one of two consumer bankruptcy specialists in Topeka, Kansas. (Her partner is the other.) Michaux represents debtors and small business proprietors in chapter 7 and chapter 13 bankruptcy cases. She generally does not represent creditors. Michaux is a partner in the Topeka law firm, Neis & Michaux, P.A. She and her husband, Mark Neis, formed the firm in 1984 when they married and merged their individual law practices. She is board certified in consumer bankruptcy law by the American Board of Certification, one of 10 attorneys in Kansas who have achieved this distinction.She was graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor of science in journal degree in 1977. In 1982, she was graduated from Washburn University Law School with dean's honors and named outstanding legal intern. She is a founding member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys and served on its board of directors its initial seven years. She was a founder and is past president of the Topeka Area Bankruptcy Council and the Kansas Bar Association Bankruptcy and Insolvency Section. She is a charter member of the Women Attorneys Association of Topeka and the Kansas Women Attorneys Association. She is a member of the Topeka Bar Association.
